What is the smallest micro injection needle Roboz sells?

The 32 gauge micro injection needle (IN-940) is the smallest micro injection needle sold by the Roboz Surgical Instrument Co. Dimensions for this needle are 0.009" O.D. by 0.003" I.D. Needle length is 12mm. Use this needle with the IN-950 glass syringe.
UPDATE: We now offer a 33 gauge micro injection needle (IN-942) which has a 0.008" O.D. and 0.003 I.D.

What is a splittable introducer cannula?

A splittalbe introducer cannula is a medical device that provides a simple, reliable method of catheter placement, allowing easy vascular access. After insertion into a site, the cannula needle is withdrawn. Its unique design allows the insertion needle to split in half and fall away from the catheter, thus removing the needle from the insertion site.

Infusion Needles

Summary: Information on the use of Infusion Needles.

Micro injection or infusion needles (30-33 gaugel) can perform a variety of functions. They can be used for portal vein injections, thymus injections, bile duct injections, and blood or fluid extraction. These needles have a number of advantages. First, they are stainless steel therefore they can be autoclaved and reused. Second, since they are so thin the potential for clotting is reduced thus lessening the trauma to the animal. Third, there is greater control of the volume of fluid and the overall injection site.

The letters "O.D" and "I.D." after the number size of the needle refer to the outer diameter and the inner diameter of the needle tip. Needle sizes are generally identified by gauge size. The higher the gauge the thinner the needle and the lower the gauge the thicker the needle. For example, a 32 gauge needle is much thinner than an 18 gauge needle.

Singley Forceps

Summary: Singley forceps were designed with tips that enable you to hold a rat heart without damaging it.

The RS-5255 Singley heart holding forcep was designed to hold the heart of rats without being concerned about a sharp tip damaging the heart. A pin and screw allows you to adjust the opening of the tip to accommodate different size hearts. The pin and screw also holds the tip steady and in position to keep your hands free to conduct other steps of the procedure.

Isolating Primary Mouse Hepatocytes

Summary: Isolating Primary Mouse Hepatocytes.

After the mouse is anesthetized, and a cannula is inserted into the inferior vena cava via the right atrium. The liver is then retrogradely perfused with liver perfusion medium and then collagenase-lipase medium. The perfusate is drained through a small incision in the portal vein that can be made using the Vannas style micro dissecting scissors. The Vannas style spring scissors have the smallest blades of all the micro dissecting scissors available. Because of their small blade size, these scissors are ideal for surgery where space is extremely limited. The digested liver is then removed, minced with the Noyes spring scissors, and dispersed by pipetting up and down several times. The cell suspension can then be filtered through sterile gauze and centrifuged. Hepatocytes can then be resuspended in hepatocyte wash medium and pelleted by centrifugation. After three wash cycles, plate and incubate the cells in 37 Deg.C.
